As many readers know, Cafe Verde in New Smyrna Beach is one of my favorite restaurants in the county. Right next door, there is a small Italian restaurant called That's Amore. I've seen it many times and have been wanting to try it out. Today was the day!
The restaurant is located at 103 S. Pine Street in New Smyrna Beach, right off of Flagler Ave. It offers both indoor and patio dining. We opted for dining outside, since it was shaded. It was pleasant sitting out there. I still went inside to check out the rest of the restaurant, which was nice. We were greeted with some delicious bread with balsamic dip, which was very good! My husband and I ordered one of their 14" pizzas and added artichokes and roasted red pepper to it. I had an unsweet iced tea and my husband had a beer. The friends we were with ordered a margherita pizza and the eggplant panini (which comes with fries or a salad).
The pizza was good, as was the iced tea. The eggplant panini looked tasty, as did her salad, both of which she said was good. I saw others around us eating some large salads that also looked very good. Overall, I thought the food was good. The service was a bit slow because they were so busy, although the wait staff was friendly and attentive.
Our bill before tip for the two of us was around $22, which was not bad. However, I must be honest in saying that I went there wanting pasta, but I thought the pasta prices were a bit expensive for a lunch. The pasta dishes were $15-16 each, which is more than I'd want to pay for lunch, which is why we opted for sharing the pizza. We even ended up having two slices left over, which we brought home for the kids. The pasta prices seemed more like a dinner price, so it would have been great to see a smaller, lower priced lunch pastas option or special (I really wanted to try the pasta!).
Al in all, we would go back again for lunch for the pizza, since it was reasonably priced for the two of us and it was good. I also liked the restaurant atmosphere.
