Six years into the blog, Volusia County Moms added contributors. These columns are by local moms, for local moms. They are a mix of moms in community who will share a variety of information. The views shared by each contributor are theirs alone, and not necessarily shared by the Volusia County Moms blog.

Maria Mills-Benat is the chef and owner of A Gourmet Affair Catering, as well as the creator of Salsa Addiction. Maria has a passion for cooking for others and has been doing so professionally for 10 years. She believes that food is a common denominator that brings people of all ages, races, and genders together for one goal. She believes that food should be more than something to fill your stomach, but should be an experience. Maria has written recipes in the past for Floridian View Magazine and Flavors of West Palm. With a knack for teaching others how to eat fresh-from-scratch-foods, Maria is sharing her recipes with us! As a Port Orange native, she also has a passion for helping others in the community, and started Foundation 37 to help with those efforts. Her weekly food and cooking column is Get Forked Friday: It's not your momma's cookin' it's better!
