Hontoon Island - DeLand, Florida - Camping, Hiking, and More!
Last Friday I spent the entire day at Hontoon Island State Park. What a great time that was! This park is located in DeLand and offers camping, hiking, and more. When you arrive there is a short free pontoon ride to the island. Once there you can check out the visitor center, which has some nice exhibits, picnic, canoe, and take hikes.
Hontoon Island has some great little cabins there that you can rent. They are rustic and affordable. It's a great little camp site. You can hike back to see areas left by the Native Americans (shell mounds). While hiking we saw a lot of flowers, eagles, deer, velvet ants, and other neat things.
