Ever notice how little time your kids spend out in nature and how much time they spend indoors? That's what many parents are going through. You are not alone! But we can change that, and I'd like to help get you inspired to do so!

Yours truly (Jacqueline, from Volusia County Moms and Florida Family Nature) will be giving a presentation about the many benefits of getting kids connected with nature. This presentation will be given at the Lyonia Environmental Center, located at 2150 Eustace Ave. in Deltona (next to the library) on Saturday, May 25, 2013. It will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is a free event, as is admission to the Lyonia Environmental Center. It's a wonderful place, so you can plan to show the kids the exhibits there, as well as take a walk out into the preserve if you would like to.

My presentation will discuss how our kids are not spending much time out in nature these days, along with the impact it is having. You will learn about the many benefits of getting kids out into nature (all based on scientific research). I will also provide you with a take home list of great nature places to take the kids in Volusia County. Did you know that spending time in nature can help your kids get better grades, reduce ADHD symptoms, and improve their mood? It's true, but there is even more!

I'm a Florida Master Naturalist, treehugger, nature nut, and actively try to get my kids make the connection with nature. My mission is to also get more parents taking their kids out into nature. By learning about nature, being in it, and exploring, they will gain the many benefits and make a connection that will likely last a lifetime.

Hope to see you there!
