Recycling e-waste - computers, printers, and more in Volusia County

E-waste
Have a computer or printer that you no longer need? Don't throw it in the garbage! Doing that will end up putting harmful chemicals into the environment. E-waste, which is electronic waste, can be recycled. There are two things you can do in the Daytona Beach and throughout Volusia County to get your e-waste recycled. Here are your options:

1) Drop it off at any Goodwill store. They will take it and end up properly recycling it for you. UPDATE - They are no longer taking them as of April 2017.

2) Drop it off at the Volusia County Transfer Station, located in DeLand (across from the Volusia County Fiargrounds). The address is 3150 E. New York Ave. in DeLand. They have an e-waste recycling area.

Old cellphones can be dropped off for recycling at many cellphone providers, as well as at Target (they have a bin for them near the front door).

Recyling your e-waste at both of these places is free. Just simply drop them off. It's just that easy. Then the items get recycled, rather than being put into a landfill where the chemicals will eventually make their way into the land.

The e-waste problem in the world is a major health hazard. You can learn more about it here and here.
