Florida Wildflower & Garden Festival
Children’s Coloring Contest
As part of the 8th Annual Florida Wildflower and Garden Festival on March 29, the MainStreet DeLand Association is offering kids a fun chance to get involved with the festival and learn about Florida Native Wildflowers with a children’s coloring contest. The winner of the contest will receive $50 of MainStreet Money to spend in the downtown DeLand stores and restaurants.
The coloring contest page features a Pine Lily, a native Florida wildflower. Children under age 12 are invited to color the page and bring it and the completed entry slip to the festival information booth. The winner will be chosen by random drawing at the end of the festival.
While at the festival, children can get their hands dirty with a gardening activity presented by the Volusia County Master Gardeners. There will also be a make and take art activity presented by the Museum of Art-DeLand. The Central Florida Zoo will return again this year with some of their wonderful animals.
Coloring contest pages and an event schedule can be downloaded from the festival website at www.floridawildflowerfestival.com or picked up at the MainStreet DeLand Association office at 100 N. Woodland Blvd., Suite 4, DeLand.
The Florida Wildflower & Garden Festival will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on March 29, 2014, on West Indiana Avenue in downtown DeLand, and will feature gardening and wildflower lectures, demonstrations, vendors and children’s art & gardening activities.
