Daytona Lagoon in Daytona Beach - My review

Last year my family bought season passes for the first time to Daytona Lagoon, located in Daytona Beach. We went there every week, all summer long. We loved it! This year we bought season passes once again, and this week I made my first trip of the summer there. I wanted to go sooner, but work has kept me busy. But from here on out my goal is to be there one day each week for the rest of summer.

I am a fan of Daytona Lagoon! First let me say that I am not a water slide fan. In fact, I hate them! But, this is part of the beauty of Daytona Lagoon. Mom (me) hates water slides, but she loves the lazy river. The kids love everything there, and so does dad. So while I take laps in the lazy river and then get out all cooled off to sit in the shade and read, my kids and their dad are off hitting up all the water slides and the wave pool.

The cool thing about Daytona Lagoon is that here is literally something there for everyone, no matter what your age. There are slides, the big wave pool, the lazy river, a splash pad, slides for big kids and adults, and slides for little kids, and even an entire area just for the younger kids. I even saw a woman with her baby sitting on the edge of the toddler area. The baby, who I learned was six months old, was having a blast sitting there with mom, just splashing away! Meanwhile, her older son was playing on the slides out in front of her. Something for all ages!

You can take a stroller in there and I see plenty of people doing it. There are shaded areas to set up camp and there areas in the sun. And some people prefer one over the other. I'm one that opts for the shade and I always find a nice spot in the shade to set us up.

Daytona Lagoon may have peak times that are busy, but you can probably call ahead to see if there are a lot of camps there at the time you are considering going. Their lifeguards are wonderful! They have plenty of them and you can see that they take their job seriously. They are always on top of things, watching to help keep everyone safe. I love that!

They have food available for purchase, as there is a snack bar that has pizza, nachos, drinks, etc. There is also a bar area and an ice cream stand. You can also rent lockers there. It's worth it to invest in the re-fillable cup, so that you can take it back each time and pay the discounted rate to get refills. If you are season passholder you can also save 10% on food purchases at the snack bar.

Daytona Lagoon is good clean fun that will keep you cool all summer. It's worth purchasing the season pass so you can go often in the summer, meeting up with other moms, or just having your family go. You can also often find Groupons for Daytona Lagoon, which will help you save money on one-time admissions. Daytona Lagoon also offers specials throughout the summer, such as Family Nights every Wednesday. Also, check their specials page for coupons and deals. There is also an indoor arcade area, which my kids love.

People often get upset when a storm is in the area and they have to get everyone out of the water. Please keep in mind that Daytona Lagoon takes no shortcuts in ensuring your safety. They do this to help make sure everyone is safe. They have to watch the weather radar in the area and if there's a storm/lightning within a 10 mile radius they must have people out of the water. Don't get upset, this is soley for your protection. Sure, we all just want to have fun. They want us to have fun, but they also want to keep everyone safe!

If you park in the parking garage be sure to take your parking ticket in to get validated. This will make it to where you pay a maximum rate of $4.00 for parking.
