Marketing Next Expo - Recap - Daytona Beach

I have had numerous people ask me to speak at various business meetings and conferences over the last decade. But I always turn it down. I'm a writer, so I like to say what I have to say through written words, rather than through public speaking. Fast forward to June 2014, when I was contacted by Diane Michaels of The Callan Group

Diane contacted me because she wanted me to speak at the upcoming Marketing NEXT Expo in Daytona Beach, giving a presentation on how to engage a social media audience. I was intrigued, so I met with her to discuss it. My initial reaction was "I'll think about it," and I knew that I'd probably later give her the "thanks, but no thanks" bit. But she has a great personality that lead me to agreeing to do it before the meeting was over.

Today was the day of the Marketing NEXT Expo and I gave the presentation. Turns out I really enjoyed it! I had a lot to say on the topic and I think that the people who sat in on my presentation walked away with some useful information. There were also a couple of people that I got to meet who came to see the presentation, including Jamie Barkley, of Title Boxing Club (opening soon in Port Orange), and Jenny Fike of Geiger. Jamie is an advertiser and we finally got to meet in person after so many email conversations, and Jenny is a VCM fan. It was great to meet and chat with them both!

If you have a business or work in marketing or advertising you will want to be sure to attend this expo next year. It's well worth the time, as you will walk away with some great information. Not only did I enjoy being a presenter at the expo, but I also enjoyed sitting in on some of the other presentations. Two thumbs up for a great (and busy) day!

Here's a picture of Diane Michael and I, and one of Jamie Barkley and I ... didn't get one with Jenny, darn it!
