A local mom reviews LoCATion cat cafe in Port Orange!

I took my 20 month old son to the new LoCATion cat cafe in the Port Orange Pavilion today and thought I'd share our experience with the group. They had 20 cats roaming free (all courtesy of the Halifax Humane Society and all available for adoption).

It costs $5 per person (my little one was free) for an hour of play time. We walked around, pet a lot of cats, watched a lot of cats play...my son played with many of the cat toys himself (LOL). It was a fun experience. They have a whole line of gourmet vending machines in the cafe, as well...pastries, gourmet popcorn, coffee machine, etc.

If you're a cat fan, I'd recommend this as a fun activity for kids and I also think it'd be a fun thing to do with a group of friends just looking to hang out on the couches, enjoy some snacks and share some love with a few cats in need. P.S. The cat cafe has been open for just 11 days and they've already facilitated 10 adoptions - great job!

Fall Registration for the USRP Racers Swim Team Begins August 14

Moms:  Would you like a sport where all your children can practice and compete at the same time?  A relatively safe sport that is both individual and team oriented?  A sport that can become a lifetime activity?  A sport almost injury-free?  Swimming with the USRP Racers Swim Team can be your answer. Registration for the fall session begins August 14 at 5:00 at the Cypress Aquatic Center, 981 George Engram Blvd., Daytona Beach (on Nova Rd. across the street from the Toyota Dealer).  The team is a USA-Swimming year-round competitive swim team.

Practices are conducted in a positive atmosphere, with a low coach-to-swimmer ratio.  Swimmers ages 5 - 13 train at 5:00 pm, with a choice of days to fit family schedules.   As a special promotion, new swimmers may swim during August at no charge, so come try us out.  Detail about the team are at usrpracers.com, or contact Rob Klotzbach, 386-566-3404 or Anne Grams, 386-451-1910 for more information.
