Review: Flagler Avenue Pizza Company
I love Flagler Avenue in New Smyrna Beach and so does my sister's family, who is in town visiting from Michigan. Last night was my sister's final day here visiting, and they wanted to go try Flagler Avenue Pizza Company, located at 396 Flagler Ave. So we all went over there to give it a try. The restaurant is small inside and we had nine of us that would be dining. We arrived just in time, being able to snag two tables, because they were not yet busy. By the time we left there the place was packed.
You walk up to the counter and place your order. We ordered a large Reef pizza, which is topped with zucchini, mushrooms, onions, green pepper, and spinach. My sister ordered their group two pizzas - one the same as ours, only swapping the zucchini for banana peppers, and she ordered a pizza with half ham and half pepperoni. They sell fountain drinks, as well as bottled drinks. For our group of four, we got two bottles of Coke to share, because we only wanted a little bit of soda. We also ordered our party a large salad to share.
For my group of four we got the large pizza, a large salad, and two bottles of soda, and it came to $33 total. I was surprised that they seemed to use frozen spinach on the pizza, as well as canned mushrooms. Despite that the pizza was still good. We really liked the salad as well. It was large enough for the four of us to share it and all get some salad with our pizza. We all liked the pizza and salad and the amount we ordered was enough for all of us to get enough to eat. My sister's family all liked the pizza as well. They didn't get a salad, but after seeing ours kept wishing they had.
The Flagler Avenue Pizza Company offers a wide variety of "specialty" pizzas to choose from. It took us a while to read over that menu, because there are so many unique options. They have pizza with calamari, shrimp, taco meat, and clams on it, among many other things I've never seen offered on a pizza. We've never had zucchini on a pizza, and we enjoyed getting to try it. We all liked the zucchini on it, although it wouldn't be listed among our favorite toppings.
The pizza and customer service was good and the price is not bad, making this a good place to stop for pizza in New Smyrna Beach. With limited seating you may not be able to take a large group in there. They have 4-5 tables and the space is small, but it worked for us because of the timing. Two thumbs up for Flagler Avenue Pizza Company!
