WonderWorks Orlando Plans Special Needs Sensory Day

Wonderworks

Special needs students around Central Florida can have fun and learn about science on an upcoming event that has been designed just for them. WonderWorks Orlando is offering a special Sensory Day on November 17, 2019. The event provides special needs students with the ability to explore, learn, and have fun, with exhibits being adapted so they provide more comfort. Tickets to the event are $10 for everyone.

Sensory Day will give those with special needs a chance to explore the indoor amusement park with modifications that have been made to help make it more comfortable for them to do so.

To help make WonderWorks sensory friendly on this special day, they will be:

  • All exhibits will be altered to provide limited stimulation for children and adults with special needs.
  • The music throughout the facility will be lowered.
  • All exhibits that are generally considered to be loud will turned off.
  • The inversion tunnel at the beginning of the attraction will be shut off.
  • The focus of the event will be to create a safe and comfortable environment and experience for guests with special needs, so they can enjoy it all without feeling overwhelmed.

WonderWorks Orlando will also be having a holiday magic show, called The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show. This year’s show features three showtimes daily from December 21-29, 2019. The showtimes will be at 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. The show features new magic and elements from Tony Brent. Dinner will include specialty pizza and just for the holiday show, chicken alfredo pizza. There will also be specialty themed holiday drinks for an additional purchase. Ticket prices for the show are $39.99 for adults and $24.99 for children and seniors. This show has not been designed to be sensory friendly.

WonderWorks in Orlando is an adventure that tourists and locals both enjoy. The indoor amusement park is open 365 days per year from 9:00 a.m. until midnight. WonderWorks features a glow-in-the-dark ropes course, laser tag, 4D XD motion theater, magic comedy dinner show, and the Wonder Zones, which include interactive exhibits on natural disasters, space discovery, light and sound zone, imagination lab, far out art gallery, and a physical challenge zone. With over 35,000 square feet of “edu-tainment,” the attraction combines education and entertainment with over 100 hands-on exhibits.
