Metro Diner Daytona Beach review
The Daytona area has so many restaurants to choose from, but how do you know which one to visit when you want a great experience, better than excellent service, and meals that will make you feel more than satisfied? Metro Diner, located at 1702 W International Speedway Blvd, should be the next restaurant you choose to dine at.
My husband and I had the pleasure of trying the diner for dinner for the first time. Upon arrival, the hostess and assistant manager greeted us and our request for a booth was made available immediately. Every table had a candle lit for a welcoming experience. As we sat down, I couldn’t help but notice the well dressed couple sitting next to us. They had ordered the fried chicken which looked so crispy, yet tender. It didn’t look like the typical fried chicken you’d get anywhere. I learned that Metro Diner is well known for their fried chicken and waffles with strawberry butter. My husband ordered the fried chicken dinner plate, which was served with creamy, velvety mashed potatoes and vegetables.
I opted to take the advice from our waitress and ordered the shrimp and grits. It is grilled shrimp and sausage in a decedent cream sauce served with two grit cakes. The shrimp and grits dish is unlike any I’ve tried elsewhere. The shrimp and grits at Metro Diner were bursting with the most savory flavors and will leave you salivating for more.
Not that we saved room for dessert, but we ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes too! We had to try them as they were highlighted on the menu as a bestselling item. They were light, fluffy, buttery, and had icing to top them. We had three to-go boxes needless to say that evening.
The service at Metro Diner was better than you’d find at any 5-star restaurant. They offer a variety of choices on the menu; no matter what you or your family are in the mood for, chances are they have it. The waitress that served us was friendly and made great suggestions. The assistant manager greeted every customer at their table and was active in serving food as well.
I give 5 out of 5 stars to Metro Diner of Daytona Beach for their flavorful food and first-rate service!
