Get ready to unleash your
imagination and fall in love with clay!
Students will develop
fundamental ceramics skills and learn the basics of hand-building with clay.
They will explore pinch, coil and slab methods of construction and create
unique sculptural projects.

Week 1: Introduction to Clay/ Fundamentals of Hand-building Methods Build a Sea Creature using
the Pinch Pot Method
Week 2: Create a Coral Reef using the Coil Method
Week 3: Sculpt a Unique Fish using the Slab Method
Week 4: Final surface decoration / Glaze finished pieces

Includes all materials. Work will be ready to pick up 2 weeks after the last class.

Kimberly Sander received her
BA in in Art from Stetson University. She was a Ceramics Major with Teacher
Certification in Art K-12. She has 30 years of Art Education experience, 22
years with Volusia County Schools and is a National Board Certified Teacher,
NBCT She loves making art, teaching children and does several art shows in the
area. She teaches kids Coastal Clay Creation after school classes at Jane’s Art
Center.
