Sanders Bumpy Cake - Bringing a little of Michigan to Florida!

Growing up in Michigan, my favorite cake was Sander's chocolate fudge Bumpy Cake. I loved their cake! My grandfather loved it, too, and I recall having it many times around his own birthday. As an adult, it became my favorite cake, too.

My husband and I moved out of Michigan many years ago, leaving Bumpy Cake behind. We did have it when we went back to visit, but the instances have been far and few between. Last week, I asked my daughter what kind of cake she wanted for her birthday (she turned 16). She said she wanted chocolate fudge Bumpy Cake. Nice! She had only tried it once, 4.5 years ago when we were on a trip back to Michigan.

I logged onto the Sanders website and sure enough, you can order the cake. They will ship it to you no matter where you live in the country. Wow! They do have a few rules, such as they want you to buy two cakes to make it worth shipping. They offer free shipping when you spend $35, so I decided to shoot for spending that amount to get the shipping free (otherwise shipping was $10).

I ordered the famous chocolate fudge Bumpy Cake, of course, and then decided to try one of their carrot cakes (I love carrot cake, too), and added in some chocolate mint patties to reach the $35 mark. Several days later it all arrived in a box and was still cold. I put it in the fridge and then you take the cake out to let it sit out for 4-5 hours before eating it. It was perfect!

Oh, how I love Sanders chocolate fudge Bumpy Cake! You have the fudge frosting, chocolate cake, and bumps of white cream. Delicious! The carrot Bumpy Cake was pretty good, but has nothing on the chocolate fudge one. Not even close.

If you want to give it a try or surprise a Michigander living in Florida, you can order online. Orders placed Monday and Tuesday get shipped out quickly. Orders placed on Wed-Sunday will not be shipped until Monday or Tuesday. They do their shipping on Monday and Tuesday to help ensure the cakes arrive fresh.

We had a little bit of Michigan in Florida with this cake that is a long standing tradition. The company has been around since 1875 and makes great products. I remember my grandmother used to buy their chocolate fudge ice cream topping, too. So good!

Check out their site here if you are interested. I'm already planning on ordering again for my own birthday in January!
