Review: Jimmy Hula's in Port Orange

My son's girlfriend told me months ago that her favorite restaurant in the area is Jimmy Hula's in Port Orange. She has since mentioned the place to me several times, so it's been on a my radar. Over the weekend, my husband and I decided to stop in and have lunch there after spending some time at the beach.

Located at 65 Dunlawton, alongside the bridge, the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. You walk in and place your order, take a seat, and they bring it out to you. The menu offers burgers, tacos, bowls, and more. There are plenty of options to choose from. I opted for the tree hugger tacos, which are vegetarian. They have mushrooms, black beans, and veggies. My  husband got a burger with a black bean patty. I also opted to get the chips and guacamole and an unsweet iced tea.

The place was really busy! And it was kind of loud. Not only because there were so many people dining at the time, but there was some live music. We decided to sit outside at the counter, which was nice. It wasn't long before the food was brought out and it looked great. I picked up the first taco and was surprised that the tortilla felt a little crispy on the bottom, which was great. The tacos were delicious! I ordered three of them, but with the plan of giving my husband one. Two of the tacos with the chips and guacamole was plenty for me. My husband loved the black bean burger, too!

The food was great at Jimmy Hula's. We really liked it. Despite it being a tad loud, we still liked the atmosphere, too. The restaurant has a fun vibe, which we liked. We will go back again for sure. Maybe next time I'll try a bowl, but I loved those tacos, so I may stick with them again. Two thumbs up for Jimmy Hula's in Port Orange!

On the way out, they were giving away free samples of Papa's Pilar Rum, and my husband was happy to give it a try. He loved it! He will be buying some of that for home, I'm sure. Check out their menu here.
