This blog was started in November 2009, as a way to help provide family-related information to moms (and dads, grandparents, etc.) in the Daytona Beach and Volusia County area,
and beyond. Since that time, it has quickly grown! The blog has over 7,000 pages, gets 90,000 page views per month on average, and has thousands of locals who use the site on a regular basis to find family-related information in the area. For the month of July 2019, there were 55,000 users on VCM, according to Google Analytics, and from August 1, 2018 through July 31, 2019, there were over 1.1 million page views.
The Facebook page for the blog has over 33,000 followers and an engaged local audience, with the page often reaching over 50,000 people per week on most weeks.
VolusiaCountyMoms.com was started and is run by Jacqueline Bodnar, a professional writer and blogger who has had over 3,000 articles published in magazines and newspapers around the world. She has ghostwritten seven books for doctors, and is author of the historical fiction novel "Blueberry Steel," "Starting Your Career as a Professional Blogger, and her latest book "Blog for Bucks." She offers professional writing services, having completed thousands of projects for companies locally and around the world. Some of her other blogs include Florida Family Nature, VegBlogger, Volusia Senior, and Daytona Beach Bound. She shares reviews and personal opinions in a column on this blog, called "Jacqueline's 2 Cents.”
A Michigan native, she moved to the area in 2006, after spending a decade living in Las Vegas, where she graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science Studies (covering psychology, political science, and history), as well as a Master of Professional Writing degree. When she's not writing, Jacqueline enjoys spending time with her family, reading, hiking, RV camping, snorkeling the springs, sipping tea, and traveling. Jacqueline also became a licensed massage therapist in 2023, and offers the service part time in her own business, Ormond Beach Relaxation Massage.
